Simon's Town & Cape of Good Hope | Penguins, Ostriches, and Pure Natural Sound (No Music)

Last stop on our two week South Africa trip, mid November. This one has less talking than usual, we let the sounds do the work. No music, just waves, wind, and penguins. It felt like the right way to capture this place. We went to Boulders Beach twice a day to see the penguins. About a quarter of the colony was deep in moulting season, shedding their old feathers, while some pairs had already laid eggs and settled in to incubate, others were still building nearby. We also spent time in the tide pools at Millers Point and Windmill Beach, cold water, quiet mornings, and more penguins tucked into the rocks nearby. At the Cape of Good Hope we came across wild ostriches wandering the reserve and sea lions lounging on the rocks below. To finish it off, we stopped at an ostrich farm and tried actual ostrich eggs. One egg serves about six people, it is basically a family sized omelet. A slow, salty way to end the trip. This video is not sponsored.
