Ngororombe Music of Zimbabwe

Ngororombe is a musical instrument which is played in North Eastern part of Zimbabwe. The performance including singing, dancing, and drumming to Ngororombe is also caled ngororombe. It used to be played at spirit possession rituals, mourning ceremonies and entertainment. But this culture has been extinct in Zimbabwe. Elias Nyandoro finished playing ngororombe in 1978. But when I ask him to make and play ngororombe, he did that very well. Anthony Zonke is famous mbira and ngoma player. It was his first time to play the ngororombe. Because he grew up with listening to ngororombe music, it was no so difficult for him to play ngororombe. ngororombe is played by for ngororombe, female singers and dancers, and ngoma (drums).
