EIN DEUTSCHES BERGDORF WEIT WEG VON DER ZIVILISATION. LÄNDLICHES LEBEN IN DEUTSCHLAND
Wernersberg is a local municipality in the district of Südliche Weinstraße in Rhineland-Palatinate. It belongs to the administrative community of Annweiler am Trifels, within which it is the fourth largest local municipality by population, following the town of Annweiler am Trifels, Albersweiler, and Gossersweiler-Stein. The village is located in the Wasgau, which is also known as the southern part of the Palatinate Forest, between Annweiler am Trifels and Bad Bergzabern. Neighboring municipalities are – in a clockwise direction – Rinnthal, Annweiler am Trifels, Völkersweiler, Lug (Pfalz), and Spirkelbach. Significant elevations include the Rothenberg (452.4 m) to the north of the village and the Heischberg (412.5 m) to the west. On the southern slope of the Rothenberg, at an elevation of 387 meters, lies the Wachtfels as a viewpoint. On the northern slope of the Heischberg, there is another viewpoint rock called the Runder Hut. At the eastern boundary of the municipality, the western slope of the Ebersberg (462.1 m) belongs to the municipal area, while at the western boundary, the eastern slope of the Höllenberg (455.2 m) is included. The distinctive rock formation of the Geiersteine can be found at the boundary with Lug. To the east of the actual village, Wernersberg also includes the Knochenmühle, and to the west of the municipality, the Kaisermühle. The most significant body of water within the municipality is the Rimbach, which flows northeast about 1.2 km northwest of the village center, where the small settlement of Kaisermühle is located. South-southeast of the buildings, the Maisbach springs, which flows for two kilometers before merging from the left into the Ebersbach, which shortly before takes in the Kleine Ebersbach. Wernersberg was first mentioned in a document dated July 1, 1283, in the spelling "Wernheresberge." Until the end of the 18th century, the village belonged to Pfalz-Zweibrücken. From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and subsequently part of the Napoleonic Empire, Wernersberg was incorporated into the Canton of Annweiler and was under the administration of the Mairie Annweiler. In 1815, the municipality had a total of 397 inhabitants. In the same year, the village was assigned to Austria. Just a year later, the village, along with the entire Palatinate, transferred to the Kingdom of Bavaria. From 1818 to 1862, Wernersberg belonged to the Landkommissariat Bergzabern, which later evolved into the District Office of Bergzabern. From 1939, the village became part of the district of Bergzabern. After World War II, Wernersberg became part of the newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone. As part of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate, the village transitioned on June 7, 1969, to the newly created district of Landau-Bad Bergzabern, which was renamed Südliche Weinstraße in 1978. In 1972, Wernersberg was assigned to the also newly formed administrative community of Annweiler am Trifels. 🌤Temperature: 14°C - 15°C 🎥Recording Date of this video: 10.03.2025 📍Location: Pfalz, Wernersberg Let yourself be enchanted by the bird's-eye view of this village and discover how it differs from villages in other countries.
