The Life and Sad End of Udo Lindenberg Udo Gerhard Lindenberg (born May 17, 1946 in Gronau, Westphalia) is a German rock musician, writer, and painter. After beginning a career as a drummer in the late 1960s with bands and musicians such as the City Preachers and Peter Herbolzheimer, he increasingly focused on singing and writing his own songs in the early 1970s. He was one of the first rock musicians to present lyrics in German, thus helping German-language rock music to gain a breakthrough in West Germany. Since then, Lindenberg has steadily developed into a leading and influential figure in the German music scene, with many of his recordings achieving gold status. His best-known works include Alles klar auf der Andrea Doria, Cello, Wozu sind Kriege da?, Sonderzug nach Pankow, Horizont, Ich lieb’ Dich allein nicht mehr, Die Klavierlehrerin, Ein Herz kann man nichtreparatur, and Wenn Du durchhängst. With his 34th studio album, Stark wie Zwei, he topped the German charts for the first time in his career in 2008 at the age of 62. Furthermore, his collaboration with Apache 207, Komet, with 21 weeks, is the most frequently charted song since the weekly singles charts were introduced in 1971. #UdoLindenberg
