History Fix Kids Ep. 5: The History of the Trail of Tears and the Indian Removal Act of 1830
In this episode of History Fix Kids, we'll learn all about President Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act of 1830. This law allowed the US government to negotiate with Indigenous groups like the Choctaw, Creek, Seminole, Cherokee, and Chickasaw in order to get them to move off their ancestral lands. In most cases, thousands of lives were lost as they were marched hundreds, sometimes over a thousand miles, west in the middle of winter. This shameful event in American history came to be called the "Trail of Tears." Click this link for lesson materials that go along with this episode: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/P...
