宮内庁:玉音放送の原盤を初公表 音声も公開
On the 1st, marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the war, the Imperial Household Agency released for the first time the master recording of Emperor Showa's "Gyokuon-hoso" (Gyoku-on Broadcast) on the day the war ended, and also made the audio public. The Gyokuon-hoso was a radio broadcast from noon on August 15th, 1945, in which Emperor Showa read the Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the War (approximately 4 minutes 30 seconds). It was recorded late at night on the previous day, the 14th, within the Imperial Household Ministry at the time. Emperor Showa requested that it be re-recorded, so the reading was done twice, and two master recordings were completed. The master recording being released this time is the second recording that was actually broadcast.
