The Concorde is a supersonic passenger airliner jointly developed by Great Britain and France. It was the first civilian aircraft to regularly carry passengers at supersonic speeds. With a speed of Mach 2 (approximately 2,180 km/h), the Concorde was twice as fast as conventional passenger aircraft and could carry up to 100 passengers. Its sleek fuselage and delta wings made the Concorde aerodynamically efficient. Operated by Air France and British Airways, it primarily served transatlantic routes such as Paris-New York and London-New York. Its maiden flight took place in 1969, with regular service beginning in 1976. The Concorde was considered a symbol of technological progress and luxury. However, it also faced economic challenges, including high operating costs, its limited passenger capacity, and environmental concerns due to the sonic boom and fuel consumption. On July 25, 2000, a tragic crash occurred near Gonesse, close to Paris.
