Addio a Franco Farò, tenore dal cuore grande

Franco Farò has not made it. Attacked by a rare disease, he was struck down at just 37 years old. Farò, a tenor originally from Adrano, died in Germany, where he had lived for about 11 years, becoming a renowned artist thanks to his voice and his music. A voice that has faded forever, and he has returned to his hometown of Adrano in a coffin. The funeral took place this afternoon in the Church of the Immaculate Heart, with a crowd of people in attendance, moved by the farewell to the kind-hearted tenor. The Adrano-born artist had battled a rare disease, the "Schintzler's disease," which he himself had spoken about on Facebook with his fans. "I hope they can continue the research," Franco Farò wrote on Facebook on June 9, "because no one has ever recovered from this disease. I volunteered for the experiments and research because I don't want to be the only one to recover." If I can't heal myself, at least let them save others." Franco had a generous heart. Bedridden, his thoughts were with others who were suffering like him. Franco Farò leaves behind his songs, but above all a message of hope and solidarity. His last CD was released just as he was about to pass away. The presentation of the CD "Ave Maria" was scheduled for last Saturday in Munich. He was no longer with us, but he was fondly remembered on giant screens in the square.
