The Story of a Nasibi Taxi Driver and the Iraqi Pilgrim - A Small Booklet That Changed a Nasibi's Destiny to Shi'ism Sheikh Salah al-Tufaili recounts that a friend told him his story: "Every year, I made sure to perform Umrah. As soon as I arrived at the airport, I would contact a car company, and they would send me a specific driver—always the same one. I knew only one thing about him: his intense hatred for the Prophet's family (peace be upon him and his family), and his being influenced by a distorted culture to the point that he would speak ill of them. I was preoccupied for four years and couldn't perform Umrah, then I returned and asked for the same driver. I got into the car with him and noticed a change in his appearance and demeanor. As soon as I sat down, an image of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) appeared on the car screen, and a voice called out from the tape recorder: 'Ya Hussein... Ya Hussein.' I was astonished and asked him about it. He smiled and said, 'Yes, it's me, but I've changed.'" I asked him to tell me his story, and he said: One day, I entered the Grand Mosque in Mecca feeling very distressed. I went out into its courtyards seeking peace, and I saw a small booklet lying near a trash container. I was surprised that a book would be thrown away in such a place, so out of curiosity, I picked it up. I flipped through it and found that it was about Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her). I liked its style, so I took it home. Then, time passed, and I forgot about it for a while. One night, I sat down to read it carefully, and I found that the author was citing texts from Sunni books; he mentioned Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. Every time I checked, I found him to be truthful in what he quoted. At that moment, I asked myself: Why do we hate the Prophet's family, when they are the closest people to the Messenger of God and the gateways to guidance? I began a journey of searching without prejudice until I became certain that loving the Prophet's family is a right. I traveled to Syria and joined the Zainabiyya Seminary. Then I returned to my country with my perspective on religion and life transformed. I faced hurt and ridicule, but my heart remained at peace. My brothers responded to me, except for my father, who rejected my path and ended up throwing me out of the house. Six months later, my father was diagnosed with a malignant disease. I returned to him and accompanied him on a long treatment journey, but the doctors unanimously agreed that his condition was hopeless. One quiet night, he asked me, "Are you still the same?" I said, "Yes." He asked, "What do you resort to when things get tough?" I said, "We beseech Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon her, and seek blessings from the soil of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him." He said, "Let's try it." I brought the soil and placed it in water, and I sat praying, "O my Lady Fatima, help me!" In the morning, my father drank the water, and tests were conducted. The doctors were astonished: there was no trace of the disease. My father looked at me, weeping, and said, "My reward from you is that you take me to visit Imam Hussein." So I took him to Karbala, to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him. And whoever sincerely seeks him will not be turned away empty-handed.
