鳥越神社例大祭、 通称「鳥越祭」は、東京を代表する神輿祭りの一つとして広く知られています。 その中心にあるのが、都内随一の大きさを誇るといわれる「本社千貫神輿」です。 鳥越神社の御祭神は、日本武尊命、天児屋根命。 古くは「鳥越三明神」とも呼ばれ、本社、摂社第六天神、熱田大神とともに、深い信仰の歴史を今に伝えています。 本社神輿は昭和三年に、地元の牧野田由好を中心とする職人たちによって造られたと伝えられています。 台輪は四尺三寸、約百三十センチ。 「千貫神輿」と称され、神輿を語る上で必ず名が挙がる名神輿です。 屋根の前後に付く神紋は七曜星。 この星紋は、下総千葉氏との関係があるとも伝えられています。 大鳳凰、七曜星紋、延軒屋根、平屋台造り、独特の飾り紐、瓔珞、唐草に覆われた胴。 鳥越本社神輿は、ただ大きいだけではなく、気品、威厳、そして鳥越ならではの美しさを備えています。 毎年六月九日に近い日曜日、午前七時頃、神紋七曜星を掲げた本社神輿は、睦會の肩によって担ぎ出されます。 これが鳥越祭の始まりを告げる「宮出し」です。 睦會が着流しで担ぐ姿は鳥越神社ならではの伝統であり、その団結の強さと格式を感じさせます。 明神鳥居を出た神輿は宮元町会へ渡り、氏子二十三ヶ町を巡ります。 鳥越神社のお祭りは、現在の町名だけではなく、旧町名・旧区画を大切にして行われているところにも大きな特徴があります。 宮元、西三筋、三筋南、小島二東、小島二西、小島一、鳥一、二長町、柳北、柳壹南、浅四、柳二、浅三、東三筋、三桂、三筋北、阿部川、栄久、菊屋橋、北松山、南松山、永住、七軒町、志ん猿。 これらの町会が、鳥越の歴史と誇りを今に受け継いでいます。 夕刻、町内渡御が終わりに近づく頃、鳥越名物「夜祭り」が始まります。 高張提灯に迎えられ、本社神輿には四十個の弓張提灯が付けられます。 近年多くの祭りで使われる電球ではなく、蝋燭の火が灯されることで、鳥越の夜は特別な空気に包まれます。 神輿正面の弓張提灯には「御本社」または「鳥越神社」と記され、その灯りが揺れる姿は、鳥越祭を象徴する光景です。 宮入道中に入る頃、鳥越界隈は数十万の人々で埋め尽くされます。 担がれた神輿は上下に揺れ、提灯の光もまた揺れる。 担ぎ手の声、観衆の熱気、蝋燭の灯り、そして本社神輿の威厳。 そのすべてが一体となる瞬間こそ、鳥越祭最大の見どころです。 東京では付けないのが普通とも言われる瓔珞をまとい、胴には幌が垂れ、独特の飾り紐が大きく結ばれる。 その姿は、鳥越本社神輿だけが持つ気品と迫力を際立たせています。 この映像では、鳥越神社例大祭に向けた本社千貫神輿の組み立て、境内の空気、祭り前の準備、神輿を守り整える人々の姿、そして鳥越の信仰と伝統を記録しています。 神輿はただ担がれるものではありません。 町の記憶を背負い、人の心を結び、次の世代へ日本の魂を渡していくものです。 鳥越から日本へ。 神輿を守ることは、町を守ること。 町を守ることは、日本の心を守ること。 -------------------- Torigoe Shrine Reitaisai, widely known as Torigoe Matsuri, is one of Tokyo’s most famous and powerful mikoshi festivals. At the heart of this festival stands the legendary Torigoe Honsha Sengan Mikoshi, the main shrine mikoshi, known as one of the largest and most prestigious mikoshi in Tokyo. The enshrined deities of Torigoe Shrine are Yamato Takeru no Mikoto and Ame no Koyane no Mikoto. In ancient times, Torigoe Shrine was also known as Torigoe Sanmyōjin, connected with the main shrine, the auxiliary shrine Dairoku Tenjin, and Atsuta Ōkami. The Honsha Mikoshi was built in 1928, Shōwa 3, mainly by the local craftsman Makino Tadayoshi, together with other craftsmen from the area. Its base measures four shaku and three sun, about 130 centimeters. Known as the Sengan Mikoshi, it is one of the great mikoshi whose name is always mentioned when people speak about the most important mikoshi in Japan. The sacred crest on the front and rear of the roof is the Seven Stars Crest, Shichiyōsei. This crest is said to have a connection with the Chiba clan of old Shimōsa Province. With its great golden phoenix, seven-star crest, extended roof style, flat platform structure, unique decorative ropes, yōraku ornaments, and arabesque-covered body, the Torigoe Honsha Mikoshi is not only massive in size. It carries dignity, presence, and a sacred beauty that belongs only to Torigoe. Every year, on the Sunday closest to June 9th, the Honsha Mikoshi is carried out at around 7:00 in the morning on the shoulders of the Mutsumi-kai. This sacred departure is called Miyadashi. The sight of the Mutsumi-kai carrying the mikoshi in traditional kimono-style clothing is one of the unique traditions of Torigoe Shrine, showing the unity, discipline, and strength of the group. After passing through the Myōjin torii gate, the mikoshi is handed over to the Miyamoto neighborhood association and continues its procession through the twenty-three ujiko neighborhoods. One remarkable feature of Torigoe Matsuri is that the festival follows old neighborhood names and traditional divisions, not only modern town names. These old districts preserve the memory, pride, and identity of Torigoe. As evening approaches and the neighborhood procession nears its end, the famous Torigoe Night Festival begins. Tall lanterns welcome the mikoshi through the streets. Forty bow-shaped lanterns are attached to the Honsha Mikoshi, and instead of electric lights, real candles are used, preserving the atmosphere of the old days. On the front lanterns, the words “Gohonsya” or “Torigoe Shrine” can be seen glowing in the night. When the mikoshi enters the Miyairi procession, the streets around Torigoe become filled with countless spectators. The mikoshi rises and falls on the shoulders of the carriers. The candlelight trembles. The voices of the bearers, the heat of the crowd, the movement of the shrine, and the sacred atmosphere of the festival all become one. This is the true highlight of Torigoe Matsuri. The Torigoe Honsha Mikoshi wears yōraku ornaments, its body is covered with a hanging curtain, and its decorative ropes are tied in a unique and powerful way. These details give the mikoshi its special dignity and make Torigoe’s main shrine mikoshi truly unforgettable. A mikoshi is not merely something to be carried.
