MEETING REPORT: HEATWAVE CONSULTATIVE MEETING

𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗬 MEETING REPORT: HEATWAVE CONSULTATIVE MEETING DATE: 18th June 2026 TIME: 02:00 PM LOCATION: Conference Hall, PDMA Balochistan, Quetta A consultative meeting on heatwave preparedness and response was convened at PDMA Balochistan in pursuance of the directions of the Chief Secretary, Government of Balochistan. The meeting was chaired by Director Planning, Coordination & Rescue, Mr. Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, and organized in collaboration with the Health Department, Balochistan. It was attended by representatives from relevant departments and stakeholders. OBJECTIVE OF THE MEETING: The primary objective of the meeting was to review preparedness measures, strengthen coordination mechanisms, and develop effective response strategies to address anticipated heatwave conditions across Balochistan. KEY DISCUSSIONS: Participants deliberated on existing preparedness levels and identified gaps in coordination and response systems. Departments were advised to ensure active participation of technically competent officers to contribute effectively to planning and implementation processes. Key focus areas included: Strengthening inter-departmental coordination Enhancing response strategies for heatwave emergencies Ensuring timely communication and information sharing Improving preparedness to mitigate the impact of extreme weather conditions DIRECTIVES: Relevant departments were requested to nominate focal persons and share their details with PDMA at the earliest to ensure streamlined coordination and communication. CONCLUSION: The meeting emphasized the urgency of preparedness and proactive planning to effectively manage heatwave-related risks, with a strong focus on coordination, timely response, and protection of vulnerable populations.
