And now the impact of COVID-19 is also becoming less severe. However, in 1989, the situation in Poland was very different: at that time, shortages of basic goods were the norm, Poles had to wait in long, tiresome lines to fill their refrigerators, and the crisis the country was experiencing seemed endless. Almost 45 years of Soviet rule had devastated the Polish economy. But starting in 1989, everything changed, and it did so very quickly.
