With a blank slate and after three years of collaborative effort between the Moustache development team and its supplier partners, the new J line of electric bicycles was born. This groundbreaking concept boasts not only impressive technical achievements, recognized with the 2023 Eurobike Gold Award, but also the French company's commitment to developing a production model located almost entirely locally. The new J bike stands out for its frame architecture, divided into two seamless, hollow pieces without compromising dynamic strength or rigidity. These two pieces are joined by an axle and two large bearings, along with a rear suspension. The result is a flawless and elegant frame that integrates cables, motor, and battery. Handling, comfort, and even maintenance were key considerations for the Moustache R&D team in developing this electric bicycle. The choice of a belt drive eliminates tasks such as lubrication, as is the case with a conventional chain; A continuously variable transmission (CVT), where gears change with a gentle twist of the handlebar grip, provides smooth, jerk-free shifting without the risk of chain drops. Another simplification, as mentioned earlier, lies in its two-piece frame. Fewer parts, but very robust parts, mean fewer potential problems. In addition to creating a cleaner look, the integrated cables and front light also reduce the risk of damage. It features a Bosch Performance Line motor with a 500 or 625Wh Bosch battery, plus an optional 250Wh Bosch PowerMore battery. With the eBike Lock and eBike Alarm functions (via the Bosch Connect Module) integrated into the standard frame, you can lock and unlock the motor from your mobile phone and locate the bike using the built-in GPS. It can also emit an audible alarm in case of theft. With this new release, Moustache presents three different builds, ranging from urban to sporty. J.ON, J.ALL, and J.OFF. Furthermore, it offers users, through its website or at points of sale, a configurator where they can choose color, luggage rack, drivetrain, equipment, and accessories... with more than 550 possible combinations. With a frame cast in Vitrolles, near Marseille, machined in Poligny, in the Jura region, and powder-coated in Schirmeck, in Alsace, before the two frame parts are assembled at the factory in Thaon-les-Vosges, along with the final assembly, Moustache has managed to consolidate the majority of the J model's production in France, reducing the environmental impact of international transport of parts at different stages of the process. Regarding raw materials, their supply has also been optimized, using an aluminum alloy from French and Italian suppliers, and the casting waste is recycled through remelting.
