What's The Deal With No Show and No Work Jobs on The Sopranos?
What’s the deal with no show and no work jobs on The Sopranos? In the context of organized crime, the terms "no-show" job and "no-work" job often refer to fraudulent schemes in which an individual is paid for work that they do not actually perform. These types of schemes are often used by criminal organizations, like the mafia, to launder money, evade taxes, or receive government benefits to which they’re not legally entitled. In this video, I start with a brief overview of the difference between a no-show and a no-work job, and then I walk through the process that goes into creating this kind of arrangement. Overall, in a "no-show" job, the person receiving the paycheck doesn’t need to show up at all, not even from 10:30am-3:00pm! Perhaps he’s a consultant like Tony. With a “no-work” job, you just need to show up from 10:30am-3:00pm and sit in a lawn chair while suntanning and messing around with the other guys in your crew on their respective “no-work” shifts.
