WheelZ vs @alnik001 | Eighteen Holes ~ Competitive Match
Woah! A / @hotwheelzgamer & / @alnik001 collab? Crazy stuff, folks. Anyway, after the Expert Mode Tournament didn’t get played, we both thought that the format still had potential and wanted to play a vanilla mode match as a fun test. There’s no doubt that a Blind Mode game would be more unpredictable, but as the round went there was still some back and forth, so hopefully you’ll enjoy! If you're in the Wii Series Community, I'd appreciate some feedback on how you think this was edited? Obviously there's the option of simply playing both at the same time, but I felt that this approach would work better for the linear progression of a YouTube video. Regardless, for the sake of not “spoiling” the outcome of this one, I’ll put the timestamps first and my thoughts on how we played the holes afterwards. So, scroll no further! Unless you’ve watched to the end already :) Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro 0:11 - Hole One 1:25 - Hole Two 2:31 - Hole Three 4:03 - Hole Four 5:02 - Hole Five 6:27 - Hole Six 8:09 - Hole Seven 9:28 - Hole Eight 10:16 - Hole Nine 11:34 - Hole Ten 12:53 - Hole Eleven 13:48 - Hole Twelve 15:17 - Hole Thirteen 16:07 - Hole Fourteen 17:18 - Hole Fifteen 18:29 - Hole Sixteen 19:50 - Hole Seventeen 20:51 - Hole Eighteen 22:20 - Results Thoughts: Hole One - Obviously, all pins and all winds are possibilities for every hole. This means that we were actually quite likely to encounter very unfamiliar conditions, making the play a bit more interesting. For this one, I know some people would be accustomed to playing north wind, but both me and alnik always play south. We couldn't quite make an eagle start... Hole Four - I went for Driver, trying to recall some knowledge I had from playing Resort B. I wasn't terribly off, but I unfortunately misjudged the aim quite a way to the right. Alnik had the right idea, and 3-Iron was much safer/closer. I just about managed to hold on with a clutch putt. Hole Six - Honestly, I was terrified of getting "power lag" on this hole, which can completely screw your shot much more heavily when using Driver or Spoon compared to irons. Unfortunately I also overestimated the wind's carry and landed too far away to putt. Alnik had a really good approach, so we ended up tied. Hole Seven - I intended to bend around the back of the tree, but didn't aim far enough left for that. Thankfully, I knew that hitting the tree wouldn't be catastrophic and the 3-Iron approach was a no-brainer. Alnik had a much better strategy here. Hole Nine - Again, just made all the wrong choices. I should've just done two full bar shots, but was scared about both under and overshooting. To be fair, this green's approach is pretty difficult no matter what, but I still messed up on the putt quite badly. Alnik's second shot was similar, but he went closer to the bunker and got an easier putt, putting him ahead! Hole Fifteen - As you can probably tell by how close we both were, these were extremely good conditions for an eagle. We both approached it a little differently, alnik had the strat of being closer for an initial fairway bounce, while I went for the green. Both got close, but not quite in... Hole Sixteen - Luckily for me, alnik was about a millionth of a pixel too far to the left. It was almost perfect, but the tree caught him, which gave me a very fortunate push into the lead. I just had to hold it, especially considering alnik made a pretty perfect approach on his very next try. Hole Seventeen - While south is a decent wind for this hole, 6m/s with this middle pin is honestly terrible, since (as you can tell from our approaches) it's right at the cut-off point where typical Driver is too powerful and Spoon isn't enough. I managed to make a long putt, which essentially wrapped up the game. WheelZ (-22) // Alnik (-20) I think we both played decent, considering the scenarios. We had bad RNG for many holes and only made, like, three mistakes in total. Pretty cool, and thanks to alnik for setting up the match. Subscribe to him!
