The Philadelphia Eleven: Courage and Change

On July 29, 1974 eleven faithful Episcopal women presented themselves for ordination to the priesthood at Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia. Their ordinations that day changed the Episcopal Church and paved the way, eventually, for the ordination of women to all clerical orders of the church. The Philadelphia Eleven is a groundbreaking documentary film that has been in production for the past eight years. The film tells the story of the women who dared to get ordained as Episcopal priests. Filmmaker Margo Guernsey, and the Rev. Nancy Wittig (one of the eleven women ordained in Philadelphia) will join the Rev. Bowie Snodgrass, rector of Christ Church Short Hills (a funding partner for the film), for the first public conversation about the film and the subjects at its heart. There will be time for questions from attendees. Please join this important conversation.
