Fellowship of the Ring Chapter 9: The Prancing Pony

My thoughts on LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring Chapter 9: At the Sign of the Prancing Pony from The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. Poem below: (and I'll do way more poetry stuff in future you have been warned) "Slowly the green shall hide the red, And when your tears shall slowly dry, And as you one by one shall die, The spring of songs of us runs dry Till gently our names new men forget, Then rains and dews shall the barrow wet, And greener and smoother it will get, And Earth by stages slow, unseen, Dissolve it, reshape it to what has been, Till nothing unkindred to the cliffs be seen, No token of the toil and death of men, Only a swelling of the grass— what then? Though Earth be filled with unknown men, Earth knows, who never man forgot, Who holds them all, whose tears dry not, Whose song of sorrow has forgot Never the name of one who died, Mourning them in the voices of the tide."
