Hello, this is Na Yoon-seok from La Factor at the Busan Mobility Show. Along with the Hyundai Avante CN8, there was one more very important model. It is the Sea Lion 6 DM-i, a plug-in hybrid model unveiled domestically for the first time by BYD Korea. Previously, our country also manufactured and sold PHEV models, but due to changes in the subsidy system, we are now producing them exclusively for export. This means that all PHEVs available for purchase in our country are imported cars. Most of them were high-priced European models. However, the story is completely different with BYD's Sea Lion 6 DM-i. This is because it is an electric-engine vehicle that general customers, who hesitate to buy electric vehicles, can purchase at a lower price than electric cars. Furthermore, BYD has experience producing 8 million PHEVs. In other words, it can be said that they have accumulated a tremendous amount of know-how regarding PHEV systems. Automotive engineers dislike PHEVs. The reason is simple: the system is the most complex. It is a very demanding system that incorporates components from both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles, and requires them to harmonize with one another. Therefore, when it comes to PHEVs, this means there is a high probability that the saying "the one who has made the most wins!" holds true. In other words, BYD's PHEV, or DM system, is the most mature among PHEVs. Consequently, when it comes to PHEVs, Korea is a latecomer to China. Furthermore, unlike in the past, modern PHEVs support both slow and fast charging. Consequently, the opportunity to drive like a pure electric vehicle has expanded. And finally, "37.5 million won." The moment this price was announced, the word "crazy" involuntarily slipped out of my mouth. It was because I felt it was a market disruptor. I think the Sea Lion 6 DM-i, with its larger body and larger battery, could potentially crush domestic small SUV hybrid models. Several models are flashing through my mind. The first one that came to mind was the KGM Torres Hybrid... Furthermore, BYD Korea has announced plans to expand its sales and service networks. It certainly seems they are moving away from their imported car positioning and approaching the domestic market. I expect to have a chance to test drive it soon.
