How To Play 'Rumba Guajira' on Tres Cubano as played by the legendary Arsenio Rodríguez | GCE Tuning

Here’s a tutorial that was requested by my long-time subscriber Marco Romo. The song is ‘Rumba Guajira’ by the legendary Arsenio Rodríguez. I love everything about Arsenio Rodríguez, I love his story of adversity, I love that he played the Tres in an entirely new way at a time when it was seen simply as a rhythm instrument, and most of all I love his powerful, jangly tone. ‘Rumba Guajira’ is one of his classics, and is very playable for any Tresero. You’ll notice in the verse he double times the G#, he picks each note twice as he arpeggiates the chord. It’s a stylistic approach that isn’t necessary but sounds really cool. This is a typical flourish that Arsenio uses, I am not even close to being able to pull this off technically, maybe some day...
