Karate Canucks Conversation 020 - Sensei W.H. (Bill) Wolfe (Recorded March 20, 2022)
Mr. Bill Wolfe is a former police officer and decorated Canadian Military combat veteran. He began his martial arts journey in 1962, at the age of eight, by enrolling in Judo and Jujitsu lessons offered at the local Army Reserve Armoury in his home town of Revelstoke, British Columbia. Over the years he would add boxing, boxing, fencing, Hapkido (in which he currently holds an 8th degree black belt) and Defendu – which is a close-quarters combat system developed for British commandos in World War Two. Mr. Wolfe started his military career in 1968 and joined the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Regiment, and throughout his military career participated in various deployments across Canada and around the world including Golan Heights, Cyprus, Germany among others. Over the years he would earn the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and the title of Regimental Sergeant Major and receive the “Canadian Forces' Decoration”; which is awarded to officers and non-commissioned Members of the Canadian Forces who have completed twelve years of service with a good record of conduct. Mr. Wolfe is also a retired Municipal police officer with the New Westminster Police Department, a police use of force instructor and firearms trainer, and a former Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team leader and instructor. He was also a court certified “use of force” expert in Canada, USA and UK. He has several television credits to his name including the “Devil’s Brigade” series and the “Camp X Secret Agent School” series – both of which aired on History Television. And in 1985 he founded the International Defendo Federation, which is now called “Wolfe's Combatives”.
