ACA P-50 - SirenCon 2024 - Alert, Attack, Death, Ambience - 6/1/24

Ex-Schaumburg unit. Look I love seeing P-50s as much as the next guy, but this was...an experience to say the least. I got word maybe halfway through the event that this would be here, and as expected everyone crapped themselves when they saw this. Story behind this is that while in service, a piece of fiberglass broke off the horn and got sucked into the chopper mid-test causing it to stop, slightly crack the rotor, and put this thing out of service for the rest of its service life. Adam (‪@BusMaster99‬) has a video of this after the incident where it just rotates if anyone is interested in checking it out. In April, Fulton finally was able to replace this with a T-135 AC/DC after being on backorder, and eventually the good people over at Midwest Warning Systems obtained this, and along with the rest of SirenCon staff got it working for today's event. And it worked...until another piece of fiberglass got sucked in and stopped the siren mid-test, only this time the damage was more permanent and it could not be run again. The rotor cracked all the way through, even making two cracks on one side. Just think of that though for a second: 3500 RPM stopping just like that is insane. Side note, a couple hours later the back of the siren was opened up and the motor was still hot. The ambience was something special too. The audio recorder was set only around 800ft away. I didn't have any photos of when it was still in service, so I included some that were taken after the event including the cracked rotor.
