We received a copy of "A Pocket Book for Old Men and Women, Brides and Grooms, Young and Old Girls, Dandies, Flirtatious Men, Women, Gamblers, and Others Visiting Moscow for the Winter, or Allegorical Instructions and Advice for Them, Written by the Author of a Historical Herald," published in 1791. We'll definitely tell you more about the book itself later, but today we'll focus on the restoration work. You can watch the process in this video. The book block was quite sturdy, but some pages were missing, the binding was very worn, and some sheets required restoration. Our craftsmen reinforced the block and corrected any existing defects. We commissioned reprinting of the missing pages on vintage paper and tinted them to better match the original sheets. The binding was cleaned of glue and worn pieces of cardboard; any missing pages and edges were enlarged, and then the spine was embossed.
