Tom Petty - Listen to Her Heart (Guitar Cover)

The Song: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – “Listen to Her Heart” is a song written by Tom Petty released in August 1978 as the second single from the Heartbreakers second album, “You're Gonna Get It”!. The album was recorded at Shelter Studios, Hollywood California and produced by Denny Cordell, Noah Shark & Tom Petty. “Listen to Her Heart” is written in the key of A major. This tune has always been my favorite Tom Petty song, loved the song, melody and what Mike Campbell adds with his unique style. Just a wonderful band and sorry to say it’s one of the few that I somehow missed seeing through the years, If I could only go back in time. The Video: The process of final product you are seeing is as follows: I import the original track from iTunes into PreSonus Studio One, tempo map it in PreSonus Studio One, and record all the guitar part as close as I can get them to the original track. I then buss the guitars to an effects track where I use a send for reverb. On the master I have a limiter, compression and EQ and I usually master in the same workspace. All the guitars are recorded through a Fractal Audio AXE FX III, I generally use Fractal presets and tweak them a bit. I record the video on my iPhone (with the lesser quality audio), import the video onto my PC desktop where I use DaVinci Resolve to edit the video and replace the iPhone audio with the studio quality audio from PreSonus Studio One. On tunes like this where I use multiple tracks, I use an Apple Mac with more power than the PC for the video. My PC chokes when there are multiple guitars in one video. The Equipment: I recorded this track using a 2014 Fender American Deluxe Telecaster, Candy Apple Red. I own several of these American Deluxe Tele’s and not sure there is a better mass-produced guitar in the world. This is a stock Telecaster. I played directly into to a Fractal Audio FXIII and then into PreSonus Studio One. I play the all guitars on this track directly into a Fractal Audio FXIII and then directly into my DAW (PreSonus Studio One).
