Abdullah Mason comes from behind to stop Albert Bell in the final round to retain his WBO Lightweight world title. Mason was originally scheduled to face Joe Cordina, who had to pull out of the fight due to Visa issues just 10 days before meaning the unbeaten Albert Bell got the call. The challenger made a bright start in the fight and was using his height and reach to good affect on the shorter Abdullah Mason and by the halfway stage he looked to have built up a healthy lead. However in the second half of the fight the champion turned up the heat and started to push Bell back, whose gas tank appeared to be diminishing round by round. In the final round Mason started fast, dropping bell inside the first 10 seconds. He followed up with another vicious attack and was able to floor Bell again. This time the referee halted the contest handing Abdullah Mason victory and meaning he was able to retain his title after getting quite the scare in the early rounds. At only 22 years old Mason has the world at his feet and could potentially be a future star for American boxing. Was it an early stoppage?
