Abdulqadir (Gerhard) Schabel was born in 1958 in Birkenau in the Odenwald region of Germany. After attending primary school, he enrolled in the vocational school for printing technology in Darmstadt in 1972. There he completed an apprenticeship as a bookbinder, graduating in 1977. Until his retirement in November 2024, he worked for many years in the field of print finishing. From 1978 onward, he spent extended periods in various countries, including Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia. These experiences profoundly shaped his life. He married in Saudi Arabia in 1984. He has been a Muslim since 1979. Since 1981, Abdulqadir Schabel has been a volunteer at the "House of Islam." There, he is involved in Islamic public relations, interfaith dialogue with Christian and Jewish citizens, and as an independent speaker on various topics related to Islam.
