El Avila 1/7 - Selva Adentro - P.N. Waraira Repano (Introducción), Documental

This video corresponds to Part 1 of 7 (Introduction) of the documentary "Selva Adentro - Parque Nacional Waraira Repano" (also known as Cerro El Avila), located in the north-central region of Venezuela. The documentary follows a journey through this fascinating park, traversing three distinct sections that make up part of its topography, each with its own unique characteristics: the gallery forest, which fades into the mountain savanna; the cloud forest; and the sub-páramo. The route showcases the park's typical fauna, which thrives throughout its savannas and lush forests, culminating in the sub-páramo at the highest peaks of these mountains. All of this unfolds within a plant environment teeming with interesting species (some of them endemic). Amazingly, despite the park's proximity to several urban centers, some of them densely populated, such as Caracas, extensive areas of rainforest, some still unexplored, have remained intact in the more remote zones, preserving all their natural features. Native characteristics, including its fauna and flora, are a true privilege for those of us immersed in these noisy and overwhelming cities, finding a relaxing escape in these mountains. However, as is happening in the areas directly adjacent to the cities, where fierce fires and encroachments are turning the lush forests into new savannas, representing a real threat and impact on the preservation of the native forests still existing in this beautiful national park. These are the reasons that motivated the production and publication of this documentary.
