長濱神社夏季大祭2026 御嶽流宇目神楽保存会『五穀舞』

On July 6, 2026, the second day of the Nagahama Shrine Summer Festival, the first summer festival held in Oita Prefecture, the Kagura dance "Gokoku-mai" (Five Grains Dance) by the Ontake-ryu Ume Kagura Preservation Society, a designated intangible folk cultural property of Saiki City, was performed at the Kagura Hall. This dance depicts the "origin of the five grains," where the dancers obtain the five grains from the corpse of Ogetsuhime-no-kami, who was killed by Susanoo-no-Mikoto. While in the past, the dancers scattered the five grains, nowadays, for hygiene reasons, they scatter packaged sweets and mochi (rice cakes), making it a popular performance for children.
