What it really means to “love thy neighbor as thyself” | Madeline Moon | TEDxYouth@CherryCreek
The world is struggling, and everyone knows it. Anxiety and depression are at an all-time high, war is raging, personal beliefs are clashing, and COVID-19 has thrown the world off balance. But in her inspiring talk, Madeline Moon shares how finding balance between loving oneself and loving others can make a significant impact on the condition of the world. Madeline is currently 17 years old, and will attend Utah State University in Fall 2022 to continue her education with the goal of eventually becoming an optometrist. Madeline has always had a strong passion for service. She hopes to one day have her own nonprofit organization where she can travel the world and help people in need. She is also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and has had many opportunities to participate in service projects through her church. Such projects include assembling Thanksgiving meals every year for struggling families in Denver, playing music and games in senior living homes, and sorting donations for local organizations. She has also completed service through the National Honors Society and Generous Leadership Challenge & Big Idea Project, in which she received The Big Idea Project's 2021 Generous Leadership Award. In Summer 2022, Madeline will take part in an 18-day humanitarian trip to Belize where she will help build a school. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
