Olaf Jeglitza (O-Jay) and Karin Kasar, Founding Members of Euro/Dance/Pop Music Project Real McCoy

Throughout the 90’s sounds of German/Euro/Dance/Pop Music Project, Real McCoy, filled clubs and airwaves across Europe, Canada, the U.S. and Japan with Top-10 hits, “Another Night”, “Automatic Lover”, “Run Away”, “One More Time,” “Love & Devotion”, and more! Real McCoy’s ongoing popularity had founding members Olaf Jeglitza (O-Jay) and Karin Kasar reunite in 2006. They’re still performing on world stages to thousands of raving fans today. But what you may not know is that Karen Kasar was just 18 years old when she entered the music business in Germany and sang lead vocals on the groups biggest tracks. She was paid a total of $2,000, then hidden away while American singers Patricia (Patzy) Peterson, Vanesa Mason and Lisa Cork mouthed her lyrics and music. Now she’s front and centre. Janette caught-up with the pair in Vaughan, Ontario where they headlined Burgerfest to talk to them candidly about how those days impacted them, how they found each other (considering Olaf resides in Cuba while Karin remains in Germany and pursed a career in the financial industry), and where they are going.
