Marshall Croy was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps in January 1966. He served thirteen months in northern South Vietnam (I Corps), leading Marines in numerous combat engagements. He was wounded after nine months in Vietnam. After returning to the U.S., he deployed to the Mediterranean. His next duty was as a Casualty Notification Officer in the Salt Lake City, Utah, region.
