After about six months away, I finally made it back to Japan — and for our 10th wedding anniversary, we chose Karuizawa. Soba noodles from Shinshu, the historic Mampei Hotel with over 130 years of history, the luxury resort Fufu Karuizawa with private hot spring baths in every room, and the serene Kumoba Pond just a short walk away. This trip was everything I miss about Japan when I'm back in Dallas — the air, the food, and the scenery, all in one place.
