However, as the city expanded and water demand increased, the system evolved into something far more advanced. Instead of constructing water tanks or reservoirs along the route, a continuous network of underground water tunnels was engineered to carry water further into the city. These ancient water tunnels were designed with a deep understanding of natural slope, gravity flow, and ground structure, allowing water to move smoothly without pumps, motors, or modern machinery. This gravity-based system reflects the high level of knowledge possessed by medieval engineers in hydrology and tunnel construction. The Adil Shahi water tunnel system stands today as a hidden engineering marvel of India, demonstrating how sustainable water management was achieved centuries ago. Unfortunately, much of this system remains unknown to the public and is often overlooked in mainstream history.
