To fill the electricity gap, the government is actively promoting the development of green energy, with a budget of NT$900 billion to be invested by 2030. Through inter-ministerial cooperation and resource integration, this will drive approximately NT$4 trillion in private investment, accelerating the transition to net-zero electricity. In addition to renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and geothermal power, small-scale hydropower is gradually becoming a policy focus. Small-scale hydropower refers to generating electricity using rivers, irrigation canals, or pipelines, leveraging existing water volume and elevation differences. It offers the advantage of a stable 24-hour power supply. However, Taiwan's rivers have fast flow rates, high sediment content, and significant differences between wet and dry seasons, presenting inherent challenges for development.
