Become one of the crowd in Dordrecht who have flocked to see this mayor steam event. Dordrecht, to the locals known as Dordt, celebrated it's 21st Edition of the Steam weekend held every two years. What a fabulous celebration. A large contingent of steam enthusiasts demonstrating machines from times gone by, nostalgic images and the smell of diesel, oil and the hiss of steam. This celebration is such a popular event - attracting visitors from hither and yon. A multi cultural love for all things nostalgic. Steam boats, tugs, steamers large and small. Farming machinery, age old trades and everything in between. Dordrecht has been hosting this event since 1985. Following its successful debut, the Stichting Dordt in Stoom was founded and the festival became a biennial event, returning every even-numbered year in May. Visitors from many countries come back time after time to relive this moment in time. It isn't a totally Dutch event with many languages spoken by stand holders and visitors alike.
