Campane Parrocchia San Marco Evangelista - Vasto (CH) ABRUZZO

In this video I'm in Vasto, an Italian town in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo. In Via Maddalena we meet the pretty parish church dedicated to San Marco Evangelista. On May 29, 1982, Archbishop Mgr. Vincenzo Fagiolo issued the decree for the establishment of the new parish because the small church dedicated to the Madonna dei Sette Dolori, located along Corso Mazzini, was no longer suitable for holding all the faithful of their respective locations. On April 18, 2009 the church was inaugurated with a solemn celebration presided over by Archbishop Mons. Bruno Forte together with the parish priest Don Luigi (Gino) Smargiassi. The church, with modern architectural forms, was designed by architect Michele Tartaglia and extends over an area of 700 square meters with a central body of 400 square meters and three chapels. The facade is preceded by a portico, from which rises a portion with two twin towers and a larger dome. The polychrome windows are some cross-shaped, such as the central one above the entrance and those corresponding to the side chapels, while the upper ones are rectangular in shape. The interior has an elliptical plan with a rectangular block embedded in the middle, which forms the central part of the single nave. The environment is marked by cylindrical columns, in a very sober style, with niche chapels with round arches. You can admire the beautiful mosaics that cover various parts of the church itself: the writing on the entrance door, the oval placed behind the cross of the main altar, a part of the wall in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, the sequence of icons of the various Saints surrounding the central nave, the beautiful work representing the Cross of Aquileia on the floor, the creation of a glass door (historiated) with engravings of images. The interior preserves some statues such as that of San Marco Evangelista, San Biagio, the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Assumption, Santa Rita da Cascia and Mary Mother of Mercy. In the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament we find the statues of the Madonna del Carmine and San Giuseppe. The two bell towers placed on the sides of the façade host a concert of 5 bells with the 3 largest, merged in 2011 by the Marinelli Foundry in Agnone and electrified by half-thrust with motorized logs and 2 small fixed ones. The godmothers are Cecilia Suriani, Donatella Ciccarone, Vanda Appezzato, Palma Candeloro and, in particular, Sister Dina and Sister M. Andreina of the Daughters of the Cross Institute, whose congregation gave the parish two small bells. The bells are designed by Brevetti Giannattasio of Pontecagnano Faiano (SA). The computer in the sacristy that controls the bells is a BG 3000. Summary of the video and sounds: 00:00 PRESENTATION OF THE CHURCH; 02:00 WEEKDAY SOUND (Expanse of the 2nd bell); 05:30 PREFESTIVE SOUND (Ascending expanse of the 3 major bells); 10:10 HOLIDAY SOUND (Plenum *). 14:21 BELL OF THE SAGRESTY; 14:53 CONCLUSION. The Plenum is divided into several phases. It begins with the ascending expanse of the 3 major bells accompanied by the ringing of the small bells. After a short minute the third bell goes out and after a while the fourth bell stops ringing. The finale ends with the expanse of the 2 major bells. N.B. The third bell is very likely to have problems since it goes off after about a minute both in the programmed chimes and when it is activated in the manual section. Surely the reason is the altitude that exceeds the maximum amplitude of oscillation causing the engine to stop. Notes and dedications of the bells Musically the V, IV, III, and I bells form a major chord while the V, IV, II, and I bells form a minor chord. V - SOL4 growing - is dedicated to St. André-Hubert Fournet, a gift from the Daughters of the Cross Institute; IV - FA4 growing - is dedicated to Saint Joan Elizabeth, a gift from the Daughters of the Cross Institute; III - MI4 growing - is dedicated to San Marco Evangelista; II - MIb4 growing- is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary; I - DO4 growing - is dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ and shows a representation of the facade of the parish church. Thanks to Giovanni, the local bell lover, and the Parish Priest Don Nicola Fioriti for their precious availability and hospitality. Good vision! We recommend using headphones for more accurate listening.
