Cuban Drum Workshop - Jesús Alfonso Miró of Los Muñequitos de Matanzas

Recorded Fall 1992 in Durham, NC at the house of Jim Roberts. Instruction included Matanzas style rumba, Iyesá, Abakua, Bembe, quinto playing, and more. This is video is being posted for the Cuban music lovers of the world and is a look at the folkloric playing styles of one of the past masters, Jesús Alfonso Miró. This was the first year that Los Muñequitos de Matanzas had toured the United States since 1959 and they received a warm welcome all across the country. Video by Rick Rosen.
