Inclement Weather Forces Cancellation of MP Tai Tagak's Aerial Survey of Flood-Hit Districts Itanagar, July 7: Inclement weather on Tuesday forced the cancellation of the scheduled aerial survey of flood-affected districts by Tai Tagak. The Rajya Sabha MP and his team waited throughout the day at the Naharlagun Helipad for weather clearance, but persistent adverse conditions prevented the helicopter from taking off. The proposed aerial survey was to cover flood-ravaged areas of Siji and Igor in Lower Siang district, Basar in Leparada district, Koyu in Lower Siang, and the Advance Landing Ground at Pasighat in East Siang district. A state-owned Bell 412 helicopter operated by Global Vectra had been deployed for the mission but was unable to depart due to unsafe flying conditions. Speaking to India Today, Tai Tagak said that although it has been only two weeks since he took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, he remains committed to standing with the people during times of crisis. He noted that his first visit after assuming office was to Keyi Panyor district, which was severely affected by the June 24 cloudburst. With the aerial survey called off, the MP said ground inspections would be prioritized to assess the damage and interact directly with affected residents. He assured flood victims of his full support and pledged to pursue every possible assistance from the Union Government for relief, rehabilitation, and logistics to ensure that essential commodities reach people in the affected districts. Earlier, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with a central delegation, had conducted both aerial and ground inspections of flood-hit areas in Keyi Panyor and East Siang. The visit was accompanied by Kiren Rijiju and Pema Khandu.
