As stock markets take a volatile ride amid concerns about the possibility of a global economic slowdown and the U.S.-China trade war, segregated funds may offer a measure of protection for nervous investors. But, the benefits of the guarantees that come with segregated funds come at a cost and advisers say it's important for investors to understand the benefits and costs that come with any guarantees they may offer.
