This is a simple example of the "naturalistic fallacy," which states that a descriptive statement precedes a necessary human behavior. Many of us would disagree with this statement, as would the philosophers David Hume and George Edward Moore. As you've noticed in the example, this fallacy isn't limited to philosophical theory. How often do we tell someone, "You're quite tall, you should play basketball," or "Those two have so much in common, they should be a couple!" The principle of the "naturalistic fallacy" is therefore not unfamiliar to us. Even in science and personality research, we encounter statements like, "That's just how this person is predisposed; it's normal." According to Moore, this shift from the actual state to the desired state often occurs imperceptibly. The problem here, however, is that it presupposes an automated or fluid process, which Moore denies.
