Carter, who often collaborated with his horn-playing brother Charles (a.k.a. Cedell), contributed to such seminal albums as Slave’s “Show Time” in 1981 – which has just been reissued (https://iconoclassicrecords.com/album...) – and Steve Arrington’s Hall of Fame 1983 debut. The former included classic songs like “Snapshot” and “Wait for Me,” while the latter included top-tier tracks like “Way Out,” “Nobody Can Be You But You” and one of the all-time favorite jams, “Weak at the Knees.” Coming from a jazz-oriented foundation, Sam Carter appeared on Slave releases through 1990 and later transitioned to a long career working in higher education.
