Podcast Cidadania & Ciência - EP #16 - Dia da África

The Florianópolis Campus held a special program from May 25th to 29th in commemoration of Africa Day, celebrated globally on May 25th. Established by the UN in 1972, the date marked the consolidation of the newly created Center for Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies (NEABI) at the institution. The event mobilized the academic community with immersive and open-to-the-public activities, such as African circle dances, games, and discussion groups. The "Citizenship and Science" segment features a conversation with student Maria Zola Pedro, from the Systems Development course, about her origins and the difficulties she encountered in Brazil. Angolan, she spoke about the culture shock upon arriving in Brazil, racial prejudice, and the differences and similarities between Brazil and Angola.
