The horizontal diameter of the cornea is typically about 12 millimeters (mm), and the vertical diameter is 11 mm, when viewed from the front. Fungal Keratitis - This is another dangerous corneal infection that tends to affect contact lens wearers more often than glasses wearers. Keratoconus is a thinning and deformation of the cornea that causes vision problems and cannot be corrected with regular glasses or contact lenses.
