How we met - German Girl & Mekong Delta Boy
In this video, I’m sharing the story of how Tuong and I met. We come from very different worlds, grew up with different cultures, expectations, and life experiences, and somehow our paths crossed here in his home country, Vietnam. This is not a perfect retelling of every detail. It’s simply the story as it came to me while filming — between caring for baby Mai, ongoing renovations, and everyday life in the Mekong Delta. What brought us together was more than just a relationship. From the beginning, we shared a dream: to create a place where we could express our love for Vietnam and share it with others. Along the way, we both had to make choices that did not always match what others expected from us. Tuong faced his own challenges with tradition, family expectations, and the path that had been laid out for him. I also found myself choosing a different direction than the one many people assumed I would take. This video is about those choices, about love, about finding your own way, and about the values that continue to guide us today — mindfulness, simplicity, gratitude, and a fundamental teaching of Zen Buddhism: Happiness and suffering belomg together. Thank you for being here and for following our journey.
