Trains at Byker Metro and farewell to Tyne and Wear Metro 599s (26/06/26)

Another video back at Byker! It is a sad day for the Tyne and Wear Metro as the Class 599s have had their last day of service which means they are fully withdrawn from service. We gotten the Class 555s until the old Class 599 arrived with a big crowd of people onboard. It has been fun as these trains have transported so many passengers to Newcastle Airport, St James Park, South Hylton and South Shields. As there is now 46 Class 555s, The Class 599s have been running for 46 years from 1980 to 2026. There was a big crowd inside the train as people were riding it for the last time. Tyne and Wear Metro have made this moment for their 599 fleet a nice send off which we will all never forget. We saw the Metrocars depart to St James Park and head its way to South Shields, Then it headed to South Gosforth to head to Newcastle Airport and finally Regent Centre where it returned to the depot marking the end of service for these lovely Metrocars. I have also gotten one earlier this week at Ouseburn Viaduct and a Volker Rail Tamper on its way to Belford Sidings. In this video we see 7 Tyne and Wear Metro Trains and 1 Volkerrail Train.
