RAM ProMaster Door Check Strap Replacement (2014–2021) | Easy DIY Repair Without Removing Door Panel

Replacing a broken door check strap on a RAM ProMaster is easier than you might think. In this video, I show how to replace the door check strap on a 2014 RAM ProMaster, a repair that should apply to all ProMaster vans from 2014–2021. What RAM doesn’t tell you is that you don’t need to remove the door panel. The entire job can be done through the speaker opening, saving time and frustration. If everything goes smoothly, this repair can take as little as 30 minutes, though minor hiccups could stretch it closer to an hour. This is at least the second time this part has failed on our 2014 van, so it’s clearly a known weak point. In the video, I walk through removing the old door check strap, accessing it through the speaker opening, and installing a new OEM Mopar replacement. I also cover: Required tools (very minimal) Removing the Torx bolts and 10mm nuts Replacing the door check strap grommet / seal Accessing everything through the speaker opening Installing the new OEM part A small fitment issue I ran into and how I fixed it with a hand file Reassembly and final testing Parts mentioned in this video: Door Check Strap – OEM Mopar Part Number: 68169379AE Door Check Strap Seal / Grommet – OEM Mopar Part Number: 68134403AA ⚠️ Important Disclaimer: I am not a licensed mechanic—just a DIYer sharing my personal experience working on my own van.
