AKISIM Channel Presents: The bridge in Marabá is a mixed-use bridge, designed for simultaneous road and rail traffic. Initially, its main function was rail, for transporting iron ore from Carajás via the Carajás Railway (EFC) to the Port of Itaqui, in Maranhão. Later, it was adapted to include road traffic via BR-155. The bridge is 2,340 meters long. It is notable for its unusual "left-hand" traffic structure for vehicles, which circulate in the side lanes, while the railway occupies the central part. It is a metal box section without expansion joints, with a prestressed concrete slab.
