During intensive care monitoring, abnormally elevated liver enzyme levels are discovered. An ultrasound reveals a suspicious structure in the liver that might be unrelated to the accident. Further examinations with MRI and PET scans strengthen the suspicion of a malignant tumor. The family is under immense emotional stress and fears a cancer diagnosis. To gain certainty, the doctors decide to perform a biopsy. The result brings a surprising turn of events. Instead of cancer, it turns out to be a highly treatable pseudotumor. With cortisone therapy, the lesion completely disappears. The patient recovers from both the accident and the illness.
