In the U.S., he struggled with living expenses, working at a laundry during weekdays and at a hair product shop on weekends to make ends meet. When they first arrived in New Zealand five years ago, they had 5 million KRW (approximately $4,000 USD), which was almost all spent on buying a second-hand car. At that time, he received a work visa from a Korean distribution company and built his career in the meat department. His previous experience working in an Australian slaughterhouse made it easier to find a job in the meat industry. Despite building his career in the meat industry, he couldn't see a future with an hourly wage that never exceeded $30. Although it was a difficult time, he found his own breakthrough, turning a side job into his current business.
