Have you ever loved someone so completely — so impossibly — that not even death felt like the end? "Annabel Lee" is my latest original adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's final and perhaps most heartbreaking poem. In a kingdom by the sea, two children loved with a love that the angels themselves envied — and paid the price for it. This musical arrangement wraps Poe's devastating words in uilleann pipes, solo cello, sweeping strings, and a soprano vocal that builds from a fragile whisper to a full-throated cry of grief and defiance. It is a funeral lament, a love song, and a ghost story all at once.
