Itiwit X500 self rescue (re-entry) practice / test, and excursion with hardshell kayaks

August 27th 2022 - a nice full day with the #ItiwitX500 Strenfit #inflatablekayak. First a four hour excursion with a group of hardshell kayaks and friendly people in Sigtunafjärden northwest of Stockholm, Sweden, including a trip past Steninge castle. Instead of catching my ride back, I decided to continue exploring on my own and took the opportunity to spend some time practicing #selfrescue / #reentry with different techniques in the X500 #inflatablekayak, not just trying to do it "right" but also identifying potential issues and what could go wrong, complications, etc. I intend to create one or more separate videos at a later time on this topic. Finally paddled to #Sigtuna where I took the bus and train home with my Itiwit X500 on my back. ______________________________________ Would you like to support the channel? ► Buy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/aironthe... ______________________________________ A few observations that are good to mention: -In case of a scramble recovery (cowboy re-entry), be mindful of your PFD potentially getting slightly stuck on the straps for the rear hatch -In calm waters it is possible to easily re-enter the X500 without equipment. But in case of waves, a paddle float adding stability might be your best friend! -The seat tends to come loose if the kayak flips, also adding an extra step to your recovery (adjusting the seat before getting in). -Remember that the rear hatch is not waterproof. -You can use the bungees in front, the clips for the hatch in the back or the side handle lines to secure your paddle with a paddle float to the kayak. This was also a camera test for the GoPro Hero Black 9 Max lens mod and the GoPro Fusion.
